Every athlete knows in order to perform at their best, rest days in between workouts are critical to building strength and peak performance. The concept is no different for the small business owner. Entrepreneurs work hard to stay one step ahead of the game. This responsibility can be rewarding but stressful, taking a day off often means little to no revenue or concerns about customer service. However, choosing not to take some downtime can lead to burnout and reduced productively. Take advantage of the calendar holidays to unplug, refresh, and recalibrate. Tomorrow is the 4th of July when companies nationwide close for the day. As a small business owner it’s tempting to make return phone calls, check and respond to emails, or draft one more letter. Take a tip from the big guys and unplug for a day. Focus on friends, family, and fun or rest if that’s what you need most. When Friday comes, you won’t regret unplugging, in fact, you might decide to carve out time to do it more often!
