The Gambling Husband is the most performed opera of the entire 18th century. The work dates from 1715 and was written by Giuseppe Orlandini, a composer who would otherwise be forgotten were it not for the extraordinary popularity of this opera. It was originally performed in Italian but has been translated into English by the performers Peter and Kathleen van de Graaff.
