For some, hearing the word "boss" conjures up images of a nightmare supervisor or manager along the lines of Meryl Streep's character in the movie, The Devil Wears Prada
(2006). For others, the word "boss" will will bring up thoughts of getting past a particularly menacing opponent in your favorite video game
Hopefully, for most of you, hearing the word "boss" will bring up thoughts of a current or former boss who has been a positive force in your work and career.
And if you own your own business or are currrently someone else's boss at work, you probably want to be known as a great boss! But being a great boss isn't easy. It takes a lot of effort and skill. Thankfully, the library has tons of books
in our collection that can help. For starters, I recommend checking out Bob Sutton's most recent book, Good Boss, Bad Boss
. Sutton does a great job of illustrating his points with entertaining, real-life examples, many of which will make you cringe and hope that you'll never be known as the "bad boss" in your work place!
