Historian, actor and museum teacher Leslie Goddard portrays Chicago socialite Bertha Palmer for the evening’s book discussion of A Vacation in a Buggy, a story which focuses on the lives of woman in the late 1800s. She will mingle with library customers sharing her stories and showing her artwork and artifacts form the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. She will then attend part of the book discussion giving her “inside” perspective of the woman portrayed in Maria Louise Pool’s novel. Drop in with your questions about what it was like for a woman to live in the Chicago area at the end of the 19th century.
