Library users living in the northern part of Arlington Heights now have the added convenience of returning their library items at book drops located at Camelot and Frontier Parks. In partnership with the Arlington Heights Park District, this pilot program will evaluate library service in this area and will continue through September 3. It was initiated now to take advantage of the high traffic at the parks during the summer swim season and to save busy families from having to make an extra trip to the library.
Did you know that now you can check whether the library has a book while browsing Amazon and other websites by using our new "Check AHML" bookmarklet? The bookmarklet lets you know whether a title is available at the library and checks all the editions of the title, not just the edition you're looking at. Get the "Check AHML" bookmarklet, and simply drag the button to your browser's "bookmarks" bar. It's that easy!
It was a grand night for showcasing the creativity of our local teens. Congratulations to our award-winning teen filmmakers in the 7th Annual Teen Film Fest that took place at the library on Friday, August 16. Twenty-six films were submitted and awards made in five different categories. There was a red carpet event for all the filmmakers before the film screening and even an after-party for teens to celebrate in the Hub when the film fest was over.
Many thanks to our judges, Daily Herald film critic Dann Gire, Arts Commissioner Toni Higgins Thrash and Metropolis playwright Scott Woldman and also to our event partners, Metropolis Performing Arts Centre and the Arlington Heights Arts Commission.
