Thanksgiving festivities began a few days early for library volunteers who enjoyed slices of pie in recognition of all they do for the library. The invite read, “In this season of Thanksgiving, stop by for pie!” Dozens accepted the sweet offering which included a seasonal spread of pumpkin and apple pies, served up with caramel toppings, in the Hendrickson Room.
In 2013, 461 volunteers contributed 28,695 hours of service to the library in the areas of genealogy, ESL, the Friends of the Library, at the Senior Center and as Dunton Street greeters. Volunteers can also be found in Kids’ World, on the bookmobile and as part of the Library Visitor program, which delivers library materials to Arlington Heights residents who are homebound.
“Volunteers are involved in all facets of the library,” says Caryl Medsker, Volunteer Services Coordinator. “We really are grateful for all that they do.”
