Make a Mayan/Aztec Storybook
Part lecture, part-hands on, this program introduces some of the different indigenous nations of Mesoamerica and their unique systems of writing. The codex was an accordion-style, folded book used by the Mayas and Aztecs with pictographs instead of written text. Learn about their complex pictographs and the tragic loss of this vast amount of knowledge due to the conquest. Register online to create your very own codex with strips of amate paper, and create a visual story without the use of text.
Date and time: Sunday, May 6, 2 - 3:30 p.m.
