Are you a JLV (Junior Library Volunteer) this summer? Here's what you need to know!
What do I wear?
We ask that you wear the JLV t-shirt that you received at your orientation. Also, you must wear closed-toe shoes such as sneakers. Please, no sandals
How do I sign up for a shift?
Your first opportunity to sign up will be at the end of your orientation. If you do not sign up then, your next opportunity will be after the last JLV Orientation on Saturday. The sign-up sheets will be at the Kids' World desk on Saturday, June 2nd and Sunday, June 3rd. After that, the sign up sheets will be located at the Summer Reading Tables for the rest of the summer.
What jobs are there besides the Reading Table?
Special Story Reader – Read out loud to children in the Activity Center. Available Monday thru Friday.
Help Kids’ World staff with special projects or programs.
Drive–up window – Help check AV items and sort books as they are returned by patrons. Don’t worry. You will not be at the window.
July 4th Parade – March with us in the parade. Watch this space for more details as the time gets closer.
Audio Podcast – Every week we will be discussing our favorite books, movies and music for uploading onto the KW web site.
DoodleCast on iPad – create a video for our web site using our iPads.
How many hours may I work per week?
Sign up sheets for the new week are put out every Monday morning. You are allowed ONE shift per week.
By Wednesday of that week, if there are still openings, you may sign up for ONE additional shift
When is the Pizza Party?
Monday, August 6 from 12:00-1:30pm
How many hours should I work?
That is up to you. If you work 10 or more hours you do receive a thank you gift.
What do I do if I have a shift but I can’t make it?
Give us a call at 847-506-2620 and let us know. Remember, we cannot sign you up for work shifts over the phone. For that you need to come in to the library.
