School Outreach

The school outreach services described below are available to all preschools and elementary/middle schools located in Arlington Heights. Additionally, schools where Arlington Heights students make up at least 45% of the student body are also served by the library.

Resource Bags

We send library collections to your preschools, daycare centers, licensed home childcare, elementary and middle school classrooms. Let us know what you need, and we will pick, package, and prepare it.

Visit the Library

Complete our online form and we will contact you to provide more information about library tours.
  • Pre-K Classes
    Your class will enjoy a guided tour of Kids' World followed by storytime.
  • Elementary and Middle School Classes
    Introduce your class to the library. If you working on a special unit and would like the tour to include this emphasis, we'll be happy to do so.
  • High School Classes
    Please contact Teen Services for High School Class visits.

We'll Visit You

Complete our online form and we will contact you to provide more information about our classroom visits.
  • Preschool and Daycare Facilities
    We will visit you and provide storytimes. You may also request a bookmobile visit.
  • Kindergarten Classes
    We will provide books, music and activity programs for your Kindergarten class. Choose from several curriculum-related presentations.
  • Elementary School Classes Grades 1-5
    We will provide a book-related interactive program different for each grade.
  • Especially for Grade 2
    The bookmobile will visit your school. The bookmobile makes time in its busy schedule so that 2nd grade classes can come aboard and check out materials.
  • Elementary and Middle School Classes Grades 1-7
    We will visit your class and provide booktalks.

Teachers' Tools

We have books, DVDs, CDs, and more to support your work in the classroom.  We will customize materials to meet your subject needs.
  • We can create reading lists for your students.
  • We can set aside books on specific subjects for use in the library only.
  • We can keep a file copy of your current reading lists and home work assignments. This helps us help your students. Email the list as an attachment to or fax (847-506-2675).
