After the video games have been played and played and even you're sick of them... and there's nothing on TV...winter break boredom could set in.  Don't let it happen - read with a friend. When I'm helping kids find good books they often tell me about titles their friends are reading. Reading the same book at the same time can be fun. You can talk about the book while you're reading it or wait until you've both finished. In Kids' World we're lucky to have many copies of a lot of titles. We also have Book Discussion books  - so you could read with lots of friends in a group read. There's everything from mysteries like Chasing Vermeer to adventure like Stormbreaker and fantasy like Gregor the Overlander.  We can put some copies of any of these down at the Drive-up Window. Just give us a call at 847-506-2620. So don't get bored  - talk to some friends - pick out a book and get reading!

How can your foot keep growing bigger and your footprint get smaller?
Answer:  Your ecological footprint can get smaller (not your actual foot's print).

Here are books about your ecological footprint, and you can try out this Earth resource calculator.

I love this series and Percy Jackson. Wow. Who wouldn't want to be the child of Poseidon. Another reason I love these books is because they make you want to learn more about Greek Mythology.  We have lots of books-- at all different reading levels about Greek Gods, Heroes, and Monsters.  Check them out!

Do you like cooking or been interested but haven't had time to try it? Kids' World has some great cookbooks to get you started. When I looked at these I wanted to go home and start cooking right away. I think you will too! Please be sure to ask your parents for help in shopping and planning. Let me know if you try any of the recipes from this list of cookbooks and if you like them.  Check out the S'more Cupcakes in The Cookbook for Kids shown here. Enjoy!

Hey, kids! Don’t forget! The library has flash cards that can help you memorize all those math facts. Use our basic ones or play Tug of War.

When we read a great book, it can transport us to a new world of imagination. But, where do authors get those incredible ideas? Here is your chance to find out. On November 14 you can have the opportunity to talk with Sarah Prineas, author of The Magic Thief. Don't miss it!

You have read and re-read all of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.  Until Jeff Kinney writes more of them, you should branch out.  There are lots of other funny titles you could try.  In fact, we have just the list for you.  Keep laughing!

You probably already know the library has video games, but did you know you could ask us to buy a video game we don't already own? If it is still available for purchase, we will consider ordering it and you will be the first to check it out. Just remember, we can't buy used games.
