You already know how great our library is, and maybe you've thought to yourself: I'd love to work there, but my current work or school schedule just won't allow it.  Here's a great opportunity for part-time hours and the chance to work with staff and serve customers who all love books, movies and music.
 
Are you someone who enjoys approaching customers of all ages and cultures and can quickly help them connect with their favorite interests and information needs?  Do you like tracking down information for children, teens and adults?  We're looking for personable individuals with a love of reading and broad knowledge of books, music, and movies to make recommendations. This position involves extensive interaction with the public to provide customers access to the full range of library services via in-person, telephone, online chat, and other modes of delivery.
Requirements & Skills: 
Positive and friendly attitude a must, with prior customer service experience required.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in working with the public and co-workers, with a demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment and excel in Our Culture.
• Excellent working knowledge of Windows 10, MS Office 10 and the internet are required
• Experience serving multicultural audiences a plus.
Education: 
One to two years college coursework or equivalent experience required.
Hours and Scheduling: 
Part-time, average 15 hours per week. Shifts include daytime, evenings and weekends hours on a four week rotation:
 
Week 1 = Friday, 4-8 p.m., Monday 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. and Tuesday 2-5 p.m.
Week 2 = Saturday 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. and Tuesday 2-5 p.m.
Week 3 = Friday, 4-8 p.m., Monday 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. and Tuesday 2-5 p.m.
Week 4 = Friday, 4-8 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. and Tuesday 2-5 p.m.
 
Salary and Benefits: 
Starting salary $17.39 per hour. No benefits.

6.012 Patron-Generated Content

The Library offers various venues in which patrons can contribute content that is accessible to the public.  These include, but are not limited to, blogs, reviews, forums, and social tagging on the Library’s website and catalog.  Any instance in which a patron posts written or recorded content to any of the Library’s venues that are accessible to the public is considered “patron-generated content” and is subject to this policy.
 
By contributing patron-generated content, patrons grant the Library an irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual right and license to use, copy, modify, display, archive, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works based upon that content.
 
By submitting patron-generated content, patrons warrant they are the sole authors or that they have obtained all necessary permission associated with copyrights and trademarks to submit such content.
 
Patrons are liable for the opinions expressed and the accuracy of the information contained in the content they submit.  The Library assumes no responsibility for such content.
 
The Library reserves the right not to post submitted content or to remove patron-generated content for any reason, including but not limited to:
 
  • content that is profane, obscene, or pornographic;
 
  • content that is abusive, discriminatory or hateful on account of race, national origin, religion, age, gender, disability, or sexual orientation;
 
  • content that contains threats, personal attacks, or harassment;
 
  • content that contains solicitations or advertisements;
 
  • content that is invasive of another person’s privacy;
 
  • content that is unrelated to the discussion or venue in which it is posted;
 
  • content that is in violation of the Library’s Code of Conduct or any other Library policy
