As their community service project, the troop organized a food drive to contribute to the Library's drive. Troop leader Tracie Santicola said the girls were concerned about so many people needing help in this economy, so they planned a two-part food collection. They collected food at their school, and also collected at Mariano's Fresh Market on Saturday, October 16.

"People were so generous in donating groceries or cash to buy groceries, and many shoppers said they recognized the girls from school, scouts, church and neighborhood functions," said troop co-leader Donna Fitzgerald.

Many thanks to South Cadette Troop members for their hard work to help their neighbors!

The Library will continue the "Read & Feed" drive until December 1. Your donations of food pantry and pet food items, as well as new children's books, are welcomed. All items will be delivered to Wheeling Township for their food pantry and "Adopt-a-Family" holiday baskets. For more information on donating, call Deb Whisler at 847-506-2613.
