best_of_chicago Best Freebie in Arlington Heights is the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, according to the "Best of the Best" awards in Chicago Magazine's August issue. Highlighted values are the Library's extensive DVD and foreign films collection, new best sellers, and bargain books sold for 25 cents at Friends of the Library's sales. Recently named a "5-Star" Library by Library Journal earlier this year, Arlington Heights Memorial Library is open 79 hours weekly.

2pt6MillionCHeckouts_Ne#418 The Library recently reached a new milestone. It was our all-time busiest year ever in the Library’s history – with more than 2.6 million items checked out and an average 2,600 visitors in our building a day.  And that doesn’t include our customers using the bookmobile in 26 stops around the Village or attending our programs at the A.H. Senior Center.

You can use your iPhone, Android, or Blackberry to check out items from the Library. Free apps like CardStar and Key Ring let you store your library card barcode on your phone. When it comes time to check out, just present the barcode on your smartphone to the staff at the desk.
