After narrowly escaping an attack from The Scream, a rogue Silent, The Doctor and Alice (with a little help from their old friend, Jones) found themselves with the Sapling onboard the TARDIS - a proto-genocidal planetary terraformer with the mind of a child... and memories from both the Doctor and Alice! To recover from their ordeal, Alice took them to her flat in London... only to find it occupied by her neighbour, Kushak... along with a version of him from every decade! Earth's time has been somehow translated into simultaneously-existing space, and the present is being strip-mined by a gang of '68-ers'. With the help of a London bus, the Doctor and friends are now driving back to 1968, where all the trouble started
