According to his plan, Johnny prevents the "robbery," saves the day, and convinces Missy to go on a date - all in one heroic gesture. But fate intervenes. Johnny discovers too late that a real armed robbery is in progress. He takes a bullet in the stomach, thereby rescuing Missy, but paying the ultimate price. Sprawled there in front of the cash register, he askes Missy for a date. she agrees, and Johnny promptly expires. They say when you're dead, you're dead.
