"François Girard's stunning post-apocalyptic production of Wagner's last opera Parsifal trailblazed the way for the Metropolitan Opera's centennial celebrations of the great composer"--Container

Amfortas, the ruler of the knights of the Holy Grail is ailing from a wound given to him by Klingsor, who had been rejected by the knighthood. A prophecy says that he can only be saved by a "pure fool, enlightened by compassion." Klingsor knows that Parsifal is the person mentioned in the prophecy, and he enlists the mysterious woman Kundry, against her will, to seduce Parsifal and complete his revenge
