How the Light Gets In

During the Christmas season Chief Inspector Armand Gamache of the Surete de Quebec is facing many challenges. Most of his top agents have left or transferred out of his Homicide Department - friends have turned against him and he doesn't know who to trust, while working on solving a disappearance of his friend's friend he discovers she has been murdered. The investigation uncovers her famous identify and discovers other hidden secrets - more murders as well as terrible corruption in his department that reaches up to higher government officials. Very well written and interesting.
