Amy Pelman | Digital Services Manager

  • Length at AHML: Since February 2013
  • Length in current position: Started in December, 2013
  • Residence: Chicago
  • Education: BA, Mass Communications, University of California, Berkeley. MLIS, UCLA.
  • Most proud of: I was awarded the UCLA Department of Information Studies MLIS Award for Advancing the Profession for the class of 2006. This was a great honor, especially because I consider the evolution of public libraries and librarians to be one of my particular passions and one that I strive to impact for the better. I am also proud that I sought out, and have now come to be employed by, one of the most exemplary libraries in the country – even though that meant leaving home!
  • Family I miss my parents and my brother out in California, but I am so grateful and lucky for my lovely little family right here in Chicago: my fantastic husband Jake and our perfect cat Phantom.
  • What I love about my job: I think being a librarian is the best job in the world. I love how we, as professionals, get to serve our communities using our whole selves and all of our resources – our creativity, our skills, our intellect, and our compassion.
